Stormproof: Our Sure Foundation (Matthew 7:24-29)

We find in Christ’s closing of the Sermon on the Mount two conclusions. Like the points of a sermon in practical application. The message is direct and to the point, using the parable format. Christ is addressing in these final words a description of the hearts, minds, and souls of the listeners. Are they truly hearing and eager to adopt the teachings which they find amazing? Or are they just following the crowd, looking for the latest prophet, messiah or teacher? The final section will be divided into three parts for our message. The purposed of hearing in those who take the call seriously (The Christians Sure Foundation). Esteem God as Holy over all creation To Love God with their whole being In Prayer, Fasting and Daily Living To hold themselves accountable When facing temptation to make the difficult and necessary sacrifices Living according to the Law of God To bear witness to the truth Through faithfulness to the Law and its practice Trusting in the L

Hope For Salvation Before God! (Psalm 42:1-11)

Today we look at the first Psalm in Second Book of the Psalms, comprising Psalms 42-72.  Nineteen of the 31 songs are focused upon lamentation dealing with sorrows, consistently pointing to God as their Salvation. Psalm 42 provides us with a look at the struggles and complaints with which David and others of God’s people struggled.  Modern study bibles most likely provide a heading to Psalm 42 like “Hope in God in the Midst of Despair” or “Yearning for God in the Midst of Distresses”.  These are accurate if understated headings. Psalm 42 deals with the directive or command to Hope upon God!  This theme is repeated twice in vv 5, 11.  “Hope for Salvation Before God” Elder Matthew J. A Son According to Faith (Titus 1:1-4)

Because the art, significance and importance of addressing one another in written form and language has been lost in the modern era, and reduced to a series of canned responses, electronic and otherwise, it is essential when looking at the Epistles in the New Testament we stop and reflect upon the opening address and what the writer is sharing with his readers. This importance is derived from the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, which intended to address not only individuals, but every beloved as member of the Body of Christ.  Even in when epistles are addressed to specific individuals, the endearment, love, recognition, respect and hope which the epistle introductions convey are intended for the comfort, assurance and building up of the faith of every beloved and adopted child of God.
